Deutsche Telekom has been working to promote disabled sports since 2006, establishing the “Experiencing new sports” project in 2009 to step up communication about its work.
“Experiencing new sports” is an inclusive support initiative of Deutsche Telekom designed to translate our partnerships with the DFB’s Sepp Herberger Foundation, the German National Paralympic Committee (DBS) and Deutsche Sporthilfe into action.
The project offers children and young people in schools and sports clubs a brand-new sporting experience by enabling them to try out disabled sports
(wheelchair basketball and blind soccer at present) and gain an insight into the everyday lives of disabled people. A range of disabled sports training sessions are provided to strengthen team spirit and creativity, foster mutual respect and promote understanding of individuals living with disabilities. The “Experiencing new sports” initiative is run by disabled professional athletes and experienced coaches.
